What Is Deep Listening to Nature?
Most people know what it feels like to spend time outdoors. Deep Listening to Nature offers something more deliberate: a way to slow down, quieten the mind and experience the natural world as a living relationship rather than simply the scenery around us.
Meet Iris Ray Nunn
Deep Listening to Nature was created by Iris Ray Nunn, an experienced nature guide and facilitator whose work helps people feel more present, peaceful and at home outside.
Iris’s approach has grown from a lifelong relationship with Nature and learning from Indigenous Elders, including the late Aṉangu Elder Uncle Bob Randall. Today, Iris is an accredited Uluru guide, with Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Knowledge for Tour Guides accreditation and a Certificate IV in Tour Guiding with an Indigenous focus.
What is Deep Listening to Nature?
Deep Listening to Nature, or DLTN, is a gentle practice of slowing down, becoming still and opening the senses to the life around us.
Through simple and practical listening practices, Iris guides individuals and groups beyond the usual mental and physical chatter. As the mind settles, people can become more receptive to the sounds, rhythms and intelligence of the natural world.
The intention is not to travel through a landscape as quickly as possible. It is to spend time with a place, listen carefully and remember that we are part of Nature rather than separate from it.
Deep Listening to Nature experiences
DLTN offers private guided walks, online sessions, day experiences, multi-day retreats and tailored journeys for individuals, couples, families, friends, community groups, facilitators and organisations.
Experiences take place among the rainforests and landscapes of Australia’s East Coast and throughout Central Australia, including Alice Springs, Tjoritja, Watarrka, Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
At Uluru, Iris works with families, friends, yoga and meditation teachers, coaches, facilitators and other group leaders to create private journeys shaped around their people and purpose. Experiences are designed with respect for Aṉangu culture, Country and local protocols. Where Aṉangu-led cultural experiences are included, they remain subject to community availability and the guidance of those sharing their knowledge.
